congenital cataracts

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Sep 01, 2002 11:39 am

My daughter was born with a congenital cataract in her right eye and there was alot of retinal damage. Is there anything that can be done these days to restore her vision to that eye?

Thank You

Depends on where the damage to the retina is. The cataract can be removed at the right age, but if the retina is damaged, that may be of no use. There are no retinal transplants to date. She does have her left eye sight and that's a great thing.
