BlepharitisI am a 52 y/o female, suffering from what has been diagnosed as blepharitis. Have seen approx 7 different opthalmologist over the course of a year. Finally, the last opthalmologist gave me me a name for my disorder- blepharitis with LPK (lymbic posterior keratoconjunctivis?) However, I have been treated now for approx 6 months or more: steroids, warm compresses, antiobiotic ointment, antiobitics, allergy drops, dry eye drops, punctal plugs, Tobradex, etc. Presently, I am on Voltaren Opth. drops, rewetting drops, and antiobic ointment with a humidifier in my bedroom.
However, I do not see any vast improvements. Eyes are inflamed under the upper lids, dry as though someone threw sand in them, and are very red upon awaking. Have photophobia to the point where I watch TV with sunglasses on , and then not for long. No lights when I am typing this, and monitor has a glare screen with brightness, and contrast way down, and eyes still hurt. When driving there are times I have to pull to the side of the road and put in rewetting drops even with punctal plugs. And, to make a long story short- my life is miserable. Eyes always feel better when I pull my upper eyelids up away from my eyes for a few minutes. Had lab tests done on my own for Sjogren's syndrome since I couldn't believe it was just dry eyes as the doctors originally diagnosed it. Blood tests came out negative. Have questioned my doctor as to sebaceous gland carcinoma, but he tells me that is rare, and he would be able to tell just by looking. Sorry, this post is so long, but I am worried, in constant grief with this thing, and wondering will it ever go away; have had these symptoms for too long. Any advice on what I could do that perhaps the doctor has overlooked. I would appreciate anything that you could add to help me cope with this thing. In fact, should I look for another opthalmologist or would I be going back to square one by doing this? It is ruining my life. I thank God that I don't have to work because I would be unable to hold a position with this affliction. Thanking you in advance for your help, and your patience in reading all this. Desperate, Alfie
Sponsored LinksRe: BlepharitisI sounds like you have tried everything available for dry eye/blepharitis. My only one suggestion is to go to a teaching hospital where they may be experimenting with new treatments or pehaps would have seen a case as rare as yours.
