amblyopiaI need to know if anisometropic amblyopia is treatable at any age. My son is 14 years old and has acuity of 6/60 in one eye. Is patching a sufficient therapy method?
thanks
Re: amblyopiaLet's put it this way. What do you have to lose? What needs to be done is fully correct both eyes with the best prescription possible and patch the good eye for several hours every day, over several months. The worst that could happen is that it will stay the same. 14 is a bit old as most children are diagnosed earlier and have earlier intervention, ie do patching and therapy earlier while the visual system is still young and flexible.
