dad treatmentMy 93 year old father has had laser surgery for glaucoma in both eyes (12/01 and 1/02). His IOP is 16 in each eye now. Dr. has him on four drops: pilocarpine, lumigan, alphagan and cosopt, all but lumigan twice a day. Dad reports now that his eyes are blurry all the time. Does this regimen
seem sound? Thanks.
Sponsored LinksRe: dad treatmentPersonally, I think a 93 year old will have a difficult time taking 4 different eye drops. Lumigan and alphagan are the same class of drug so giving two seems redundant. Pilocarpine is very rarely used anymore. Cosopt is an excellent drop containing two medications, timolol and trusopt. It seems like he's taking more drops (5 different drugs) than are really effective. I would suggest a second opinion with a glaucoma specialist.
